SFL's OK2Ask'® Digital Storytelling Series Features Well-Known Experts

The Source for Learning, Inc., (SFL) kicks off a three-part exploration of Digital Storytelling on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 as part of its OK2Ask® professional learning webinar series. The first program in the series is “Introduction to Digital Storytelling” featuring guest speaker Dr. Jason Ohler—renowned speaker, writer, teacher, and student of the future. Dr. Ohler has spent more than three decades leading educators and students in the effective use of technology in education.

Digital storytelling combines the art of telling stories with digital multimedia such as images, audio, and video. This makes digital storytelling an effective learning tool for today’s students. Participants will explore ways to improve writing with story development steps and tools, discuss strategies for collaborative writing, and evaluate tech tools for editing and sharing student drafts.

The second session, “Digital Storytelling in the Classroom,” featuring guest speaker Ms. Bernajean Porter, will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. Ms. Porter, well-known within the K12 community, is a seasoned digital educator, author and education technology consultant.

SFL’s K12 Team will host the third and final session, Three Cool Tools for Digital Storytelling, in spring, 2017. Participants will explore sources for adding images and sound, followed by evaluating various publishing options.

SFL’s OK2Ask virtual workshops, appropriate for teachers of varying technology comfort levels, are held on selected Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30PM ET. Qualifying participants may earn professional development certificates.
