November 11, 2010 RESTON VA - The Balancing Act, a program for women on Lifetime Cable Television, featured a segment about The Source for Learning's GrowUpLearning.com service on Tuesday, November 30. The program airs from 7:00-8:00 a.m. The segment will repeat at the same time on Tuesday, January 4, 2011. The Balancing Act describes itself as "America´s only one hour morning show that´s about women, for women, and trusted by women." It features interviews with experts in many fields, including education, health, and finances. The GrowUpLearning segment on November 30 shows easy ways parents can help their children learn. The program's hosts interview Susan Cosgrove, GrowUpLearning's Director of Communications, and Melissa Rivers, weekly blogger on GrowUpLearning.com and mother of a four-year-old son. The complete GrowUpLearning segment can be seen at www.sourceforlearning.org/services.cfm?section=gul. GrowUpLearning (www.GrowUpLearning.com) helps parents use play as part of everyday activities to help their young children grow--physically, mentally, and socially. More than 1,000 activities suggested by the web-based service help strengthen the basic developmental milestones that children must reach to be ready for school. After each activity is completed, GrowUpLearning suggests new followup activities designed to continue the child's development. If parents choose, other family members can follow the child's progress from any computer at any location with Internet access. The service was developed by early childhood professionals, based on an award-winning education program used successfully in early childhood settings across the country. Because GrowUpLearning is nonprofit, new subscribers can use it free for the first three months, and will pay only $24.95 per year thereafter. GrowUpLearning.com was created by The Source for Learning, Inc., a not-for-profit company (SFL; www.SourceforLearning.org). SFL provides families, teachers, and students with powerful web-based resources that improve and reinforce learning across a wide range of learning styles and subjects. In addition to GrowUpLearning, SFL offers highly-rated sites for teachers: TeachersFirst for K-12 teachers (www.TeachersFirst.com) and PreschoolFirst (www.PreschoolFirst.com) for early childhood educators. Another service, TeachersAndFamilies, (www.TeachersAndFamilies.com) assists families of K-12 students. Steven J. Gorski, President and CEO of The Source for Learning, said, "The Balancing Act on Lifetime provides us with an excellent opportunity to tell people about the benefits of GrowUpLearning. We hope many viewers will visit the site and see for themselves what it can do for their families."
