Review Head Start - Common Core Correlation Project
Correlation of The Head Start Framework to the Common Core State Standards in Kindergarten
SFL invites early childhood professionals to review and comment on the latest DRAFT of the Correlation Project. During this Correlation Project practitioners from the Head Start community collaborated in three Phases to create an exciting resource that crosswalks the Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework with the Common Core State Standards for Kindergarten in two subject areas. The Common Core Standards state what a child should know and be able to do in English Language Arts + Literacy and Mathematics at the end of the Kindergarten year. This Correlation is intended to illustrate the robust learning outcomes Head Start children bring to the Kindergarten classroom and to connect the early childhood roadmap to the "cradle-to-career" continuum.
We believe the input of the broader Head Start community, early education and K-12 community, state school officers, policymakers and education officials will provide additional viewpoints and expertise. At the request of the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO)and the ASCD, we have extended the deadline for comments to February 10, 2012.
